Background & Objects of Factory Registration

Enactment Background of the Registration System

The factory registration system was introduced to allow overseas gas-related product manufactures to register with the Korea government only when they meet the technical standards, facility standards, and quality control system standards set by the Korea government.
For factory registration, overseas manufactures must comply with the factory audit conducted by the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and only the products of registered overseas manufactures can be distributed in Korea through import inspection.

Objects of Factory Registration
High-Pressure Gas Cylinders,
etc. in accordance with
High-Pressure Gas Safety Act
  • 1. Cylinders for filling high-pressure gases (exculding those of which the internal volume is less than 3dl)
  • 2. Accessories of high-pressure gas cylinder (valve and safety valve)
  • 3. High-pressure gas tank, tank fixed to vehicles and pressure vessel
  • 4. Compressor, Condenser, evaporator and presssure vessel consisting of specified equipment for refrigeration (excluding unit refrigerator)
  • 5. Emergency cut-off device
  • 6. Safety valve
  • 7. Valve fot toxic gas pipe

Travel Expenses Airfare, accommodations and other expenditure are calculated based on KGS's criteria
Korea Government Initial or Renewal Audit(Cylinders, etc., Hydrogen Appliances) 25,000
Initial or Renewal Audit(Gas Appliances) 30,000
Alteration 15,000
Note 1 In case of different codes/standards/classifications are audited at the same time, the basic audit fee shall be the highest among them.
Note 2 Audit period(audit days) may increase depending on the number of codes/standards/classifications to be audited.
Note 3 Additional fee is added for each codes/standards/classifications
Note 4 If the location of the manufacturing factory changes, it is considered as a ‘initial audit’.(not the ‘alteration audit’)
Note 5 If refund of audit fee is requested in written form prior to the date of appointing the person in charge, the fee will be refunded as below
- 7 days advance request : 100%
- 3 days advance request : 60%
- 1 days advance request : 20%
