Korea Gas Safety Corporation Receives AI Ethics Compliance Certification Mark
The Korea Gas Safety Corporation (President & CEO Gyurnggoog Bahk, hereinafter referred to as KGS) announced that it received the AI Ethics Compliance Certification Mark issued by the National Information Society Agency (NIA), in recognition of its ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) and its efforts to strengthen accountability as a public institution.
The AI Ethics Compliance Certification Mark is awarded by the National Information Society Agency (NIA) to organizations that meet specified requirements for the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies. This year, eligibility for the certification was expanded to include public-sector organizations.
KGS proactively established its “Ethical Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence” last year and laid the foundation for organization-wide ethical standards this year through its “AI Ethics Charter.” In particular, KGS has promoted a responsible AI culture through an organization-wide pledge to uphold the AI Ethics Charter and AI ethics training for all employees.
Building on the certification, KGS plans to prevent unethical uses of AI in the workplace, such as relying on unverified AI-generated information or failing to disclose the use of AI. It also aims to provide AI-based gas safety public services that the public can trust.
“As AI emerges as a key tool for improving work efficiency and the level of gas safety management, appropriate ethical standards are essential,” said Gyurnggoog Bahk, President & CEO of KGS. He added, “KGS will continue to faithfully incorporate AI ethics throughout its operations and make every effort to become an organization trusted by the public for its responsible use of AI.”
