The Korea Gas Safety Corporation (President & CEO Gyurnggoog Bahk, hereinafter referred to as KGS) announced that it held the “2026 Global Gas Safety Policy Forum” on October 22 at its headquarters in Chungbuk Innovation City, with approximately 30 participants, including government officials responsible for energy and resources from nine countries.

The forum marked the conclusion of a three-year policy exchange initiative conducted in connection with Hanyang University’s Global Energy Technology and Policy Professionals Program (GETPPP). It was organized to strengthen global gas safety capabilities by sharing experiences in gas safety and energy policies among participating countries and building professional networks.

At the forum, Chile presented public policies to expand solar power generation, followed by KGS’s presentation on Korea’s gas safety management system and major best practices. Indonesia then presented its hydrogen policies and implementation directions, while Kazakhstan shared its energy transition policies. The presentations helped deepen mutual understanding of the energy environments of the participating countries.

After the forum, participants visited the Hydrogen Safety Museum in Chungbuk Innovation City, where they toured major exhibition facilities, including the Gas Safety Experience Hall and the Hydrogen Safety Promotion Hall. They also had the opportunity to experience firsthand Korea’s efforts to strengthen gas safety management.

“Over the past three years, the Global Gas Safety Policy Forum has served as a meaningful platform for sharing energy policies and safety management experiences among participating countries while building mutual understanding and trust,” said a KGS official. He added, “Although this year marks the conclusion of the forum linked to the GETPPP program, KGS will continue to expand international cooperation in gas and hydrogen safety by building on the strong global network established over the years.”

Since 2022, KGS has participated in the GETPPP program as a partner institution, actively introducing Korea’s advanced gas safety management systems and technologies to government officials from other countries.
