Korea Gas Safety Corporation Names First Company under High-Pressure Gas Facility Construction Capability Recognition Program

— HANA UNITE CO., LTD. Becomes First Recognized Company after Meeting 34 Evaluation Criteria —

— Recognition of In-House Test Reports Expected to Reduce Inspection Wait Times and Construction Costs —

— Program to Be Expanded to Gas Facilities Used in Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes —

The Korea Gas Safety Corporation (President & CEO Gyurnggoog Bahk, hereinafter referred to as KGS) announced that it selected HANA UNITE CO., LTD. (CEO Kim Young-guk) as the first company recognized under the “High-Pressure Gas Facility Construction Capability Recognition Program” and presented the company with a certificate of recognition on October 22.

Under the High-Pressure Gas Facility Construction Capability Recognition Program, KGS evaluates and recognizes qualified contractors with specialized construction capabilities and established quality and safety management systems.

When a recognized company constructs a high-pressure gas facility, reports from its in-house pressure and leak tests may be accepted as part of KGS’s inspection process.

The certificate presentation ceremony was attended by KGS officials, including the General Manager of the Certification Service & Auditing Division and the General Manager of the Busan Metropolitan Headquarters. They congratulated employees of HANA UNITE CO., LTD. on becoming the first recognized company and discussed ways to ensure the program’s stable implementation and future development.

HANA UNITE CO., LTD. is a specialized contractor with expertise in high-pressure gas facilities and related piping construction. To ensure fairness and reliability, KGS established procedures including document review, on-site assessment, and reassessment for renewal. HANA UNITE was ultimately selected as the first recognized company after meeting all 34 evaluation criteria, including requirements for quality and safety management capabilities.

When a recognized company constructs general high-pressure gas manufacturing, filling, or refrigeration facilities, reports from its in-house pressure and leak tests may be accepted, helping reduce inspection wait times and construction costs.

Based on these benefits, KGS plans to encourage greater participation by qualified contractors while improving safety management capabilities and construction quality across the industry.

KGS also plans to expand the recognition program to facilities using city gas. Under the expanded program, reports from recognized companies’ in-house pressure and leak tests will also be accepted when they undergo completion inspections for modifications to scrubber systems used to remove hazardous gases generated during semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Through this expansion, KGS aims to improve inspection efficiency at semiconductor manufacturing sites while supporting faster facility installation and greater autonomy in safety management.

“The presentation of the first certificate marks an important starting point for the high-pressure gas construction industry to move beyond a regulation-driven approach to safety management and build stronger capabilities for autonomous safety management,” said Gyurnggoog Bahk, President & CEO of KGS. He added, “KGS will actively support the successful implementation of the program so that it can improve both efficiency and safety at industrial sites.”

Going forward, KGS plans to hold briefing sessions in major regions to promote the purpose and benefits of the program and continue expanding opportunities for more qualified contractors to participate.
